Recycling starts by seeing value in what is left over. These fragments are not finished objects, but material with the potential for another life.
Shredding is one step in that journey. Before plastic can be made into something new, it needs to be identified, sorted and tested for a suitable use. The material itself helps shape what comes next.
This is the thinking behind Woop Loop: connecting design with the possibilities of recovered materials, and working towards a more local way of making.

For us, sustainability is a direction to work towards, not a finished claim. We want to consider the whole journey of an object: where its material comes from, how it is made and what could happen to it next.
Today, we combine computational design with made-to-order 3D printing. Making in response to demand is our starting point for avoiding unnecessary stock, while exploring forms and patterns that bring character to everyday spaces.

Our ambition is to grow into a studio that can 3D-print furnishings and everyday objects from plastic waste collected in the Helsinki area, as well as from our own production.
We want to explore local collection partnerships, suitable ways to sort and process the plastic, and testing to understand which materials can become reliable new objects.
This is a future goal, not a process we already operate. Our current collection is a starting point for developing that wider vision: keeping materials in use and finding new possibilities close to home.
